Abby's 4th Birthday

Monday was Abby's birthday!  She has been anticipating this birthday for nearly 6 months, so once the big day finally arrived, she was absolutely bouncing off the walls.

The Big Bash:

We were so lucky that everyone in Cam's family, minus Ethan who is still on his mission, could make it.
Her princess castle cake I made

She made so many cute, shy faces while we were singing her "Happy Birthday" it was really cute.

Another shy, excited face while we were singing.

Her birthday theme was Princesses.
Bryce and Jasmin gave her a Rapunzal doll

Daddy helping her read her birthday cards

My mom sent some dress up clothes.  They were a big hit!

Lexi wearing a dress up tutu and leg warmers.  She just thought she was the cutest thing ever and had to make sure everyone saw her in her little tutu.

One of her most favorite presents was a package of play jewelry that contained a set of clip on earrings.  It was so amazing to her that she could wear the earrings even though her ears aren't pierced anymore (we took out the earrings a long time ago because they kept getting infected).  She has worn them pretty much since she opened the present.  She even wore them to her Dr's appointment.

It was such a fun party, I know she had a blast!

What's Abby up to?:
  • Abby is such a sweet little girl.  She has her moments of stubbornness and attitude, but overall, she is a little sweety.
  • She is doing dance again this year, and has been anxiously waiting for it to start up again this fall.
  • She is going to preschool this year!  She is SO excited.
  • She absolutely loves going to her Sunbeams class at church and is learning so much from her awesome teachers.
  • She has made some friends and loves having play dates.  She'd have a friend over all day, everyday if I'd let her :)  But since that's just not going to happen, she makes do playing with Lexi, Me or Cameron most of the time.
  • She loves playing outside, riding her bike, playing in the water, or just hanging out.
  • She is 34 lbs and 40 inches tall.  Which puts her almost right at the 50% mark for both height and weight.
  • She has a little heart murmur.  She's always had it, they even heard it while I was pregnant with her.  But the Dr says it's nothing to worry about.
  • She enjoys anything Princess, Barbie, Mermaid, Strawberry Shortcake, Carebears, Spiderman, or X-men.  Quite the wide variety :)
  • She has an awesome imagination.
  • She is a great big sister to Lexi and Colton.
Happy Birthday Abby!  I can't believe what a beautiful, bright little girl you have turned  into.  We are so lucky to have in our family.

A few of her favorite things, Part 2

A long time ago, I did a post of Abby's favorite things, and just recently Lexi has gotten quite attached to some toys, so I thought I'd do a post of Lexi's favorite things.

Of course, her long time favorite, blankie.

Her Snow White baby.  One time Cam asked her if her baby had a stinky diaper, and Lexi tried to lift the leg of its pants to check the diaper.  It was pretty cute.

And Spiderman.  Abby for some reason has been loving watching the Spiderman cartoons, so of course Lexi has also become a huge fan.  The other day, at the store, we say a Spiderman toy, and Lexi got all excited and started yelling "Spiderman!"
And being with Mommy.  Ok, it's not really her one of her FAVORITE things.  I wish.  It's hard as kids get older, and rely less and less on Mommy and Daddy.

Spring dance pictures

I picked up Abby's dance pictures this week from her last recital.  Excuse the bad quality of the pics, I just took a picture of the pictures.

The kiddos

Here are some pictures of the three kids.

Abby loves to hold Colton

Here is a picture of Colton smiling, but his eyes are half closed.  Oh well, I guess beggers can't be choosers.

Here he smiling real big, but the picture is a little blury.

Lexi, she was kind of avoiding the camera, but I managed one decent picture of her..  Her head looks extra big in this picture, and her hair is a disasterous mess.

Colton's Blessing in Colorado

We decided to do Colton's blessing in Colorado at my parents ward.  We wanted to make sure that my Dad could be apart of it, even if he wasn't feeling well after his surgery.  Thankfully, he had a great recovery, and other than getting tired easily, he feels back to normal.

Cam's family also came to Colorado.  It was really nice to get the chance for share my hometown with the family.

We arrived Saturday night, and was able to just relax and visit.

Sunday was the blessing and Colton was cooperative and slept during the blessing.

I loved his little suit, but I think he was super uncomfortable in it so we took a few really quick pictures after church and then I put him into something a little more comfortable.

Monday we took the kids to the splash park, and after lunch, we headed up the canyon to spend some time in Estes Park.

In Estes.  I think the adults had a little more fun then the kids.  Here is Abby, patiently waiting for us adults to finish up some window shopping.

Piper

Cam.  At one of the shops, there was a hot sauce bar, so Cam and Are' went inside to sample.  After a few mild sauces, they sampled one that was VERY hot.  Cam's eyes were watering and his face was all red and puffy.  This picture doesn't even begin to capture the pain he was in.  We all had a good laugh at their expense :)

The fam.  Colton is once again in his little Moby wrap.  He just slept the whole afternoon in that sucker.  And apparently, I stink or something, because Abby WOULD NOT scoot any closer to me for the picture.

Are', Will and Piper.

We stopped for some pizza.  Lexi was being a little goofy when I pulled out the camera.

Abby and her precious cup of root beer.
We had a good time even though the trip was real quick.

A quick hello and good-bye to Mom and Dad

My parents have been in charge of planning their ward's Youth Conference this summer.  Their ward wanted to come here to Utah, and see "the sights" more or less.  When my Dad was diagnosed with cancer, they were unsure whether or not they would still be able to come, but my Dad recovered from the surgery really quickly, and he felt up to the trip.  Yesterday, they were down in Provo doing a ropes course, so we drove down to say hi and visit for a couple of hours.  It was good to see them, and the girls really enjoyed the short visit.
Here is Cam, Lexi, and Colton is asleep in the car seat.  I tried to pictures of the girls with my parents, but nobody was cooperating, so this was the best I could do.

Playing at the splash park, kind of

The other day, I took the kids to the splash park that opened a few weeks ago here in Eagle Mountain.  This was my second attempt.  This first time, Cam and I took them, and both the girls just went around, only getting their hands wet.  I was getting frustrated, because we were sitting in the hot sun, so they could wash their hands, I DON'T THINK SO!  But Abby was begging to go again, so I took them.  This time, though, I came more prepared.  I brought snacks, and a shade umbrella for Colton and I to sit under.  For about the first hour, the girls wouldn't go play in the water.  If they went in, one or both would start crying very quickly.  So they sat under the umbrella with me and Colton, eating snacks.  Eventually, Abby started playing with a little girl from the group sitting next to us in the grass, and she finally started to play in the water.  It was fun, and all the kids were relatively happy the whole time.  I'm certain we will be going a lot more this summer.
