Oh How She's Grown!!!

I was looking through my pictures from Colorado and when I saw this one, Abby just looked so grown up. Which is hard, because she defiantly is no longer my baby anymore. So I decided I needed to post about what she is doing right now at this age, so I'll never forget. I know I post a lot about her, but lets face it, she is my life.

Lately, her new thing is her fake whine and cry. And she really works it ALL THE TIME! So she will throw herself onto the floor and just "cry". I am trying to ignore and not acknowledge her, but I can only take so much of that whiny wail.

Really though, she is a cutie, and is always making me laugh. For several months, she has loved to dance. And she will dance to any music, anytime, anywhere. There are some commercials that the music she LOVES and must stop whatever she is doing to dance. Her dancing has evolved from a head bob, to now her famous hip sway. Last night Cameron let her play with an electric Tetris game and once she discovered the music, those hips started swaying.

This last week, Abby hasn't been feeling well, she has a cold, and at least 2 teeth breaking through. So she has been especially irritable. And out of pity I gave her a half of an OREO cookie to "make her feel better". It's a rare treat for her to get sweets and after she ate the cookie I realized that its not just unhealthy, it's also really messy. This picture doesn't do justice to the mess that she made.


We just love our little girl so much. My mother-in-law always says she isn't sure what the rest of our kids are gonna be like, because Abby took all the personality. She is stubborn, active, goofy, helpful and loving. I enjoy teaching her, and watching her grow (even if it means she is no longer my baby).

Big Day

Well what a big day it is today. Barack Obama has been sworn in as the new President. Even though my views don't fall in line with his, it is amazing the excitement and anticipation that is in the air. It seems that so many people think that he will turn America around. I have my doubts that anyone could do that. To get things back on track, it is just gonna take time. Change is good, so I hope Obama at least brings a freshness to the country.

"Family Reunion"

Last week we went to my parents home in Colorado. We aren't able to get home during the holidays so we usually try in January. The last few years, it has worked out that Scott (my older brother) and his family visit at the same time. So the whole gang was there together. Which makes for a lot of chaos, but a whole lot of fun also.

Cam, Abby and I flew over because to drive across Wyoming in the winter is a scary journey. I was, as always, nervous about how Abby would behave on the plane. Ever since learning to crawl, that girl doesn't sit still for anything. So even though the flight is short, 90 minutes with an active girl forced to sit still can feel like forever. But we lucked out and both ways she slept almost the entire flight (the time spent in the airport is another story). Once we got there, we spent most of our time at home just hanging out. We played a lot of games, and just let the kids play together. I really enjoyed watching Abby with her cousins. She is now at an age where she will kind of interact with other kids, and I was excited to see how quickly she warmed up to everyone and made her self at home.

The kids quickly discovered that the funnest place to be was the room they weren't allowed in, so here they are on one of the many marches back to the family room.



Cam and I also went to see the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". It was good...long, but good. We enjoyed getting out and spending some time together, which seems to be a rare treat these days. I am already planning the next date we need to go on. And I did manage to find time to get some shopping done. All and all, it was just some good quality family time. I can't wait till the next "family reunion" when we can all get together again.
