Lexi 6 Months Old

So, it's finally here.  Lexi's reached that wonderful age of 6 months, where babies finally start to nap on a schedule, eat solid foods, and in general, life just starts to get easier.  In theory right???  No, things are going good. 

She is starting to become a great sleeper, and has actually, for the first time, slept through the night.  It was a one time thing, so, I'm still up once a night to feed her. 

She is still having a little difficulty with eating from a spoon.  She loves those little rice puffs, but hates anything from a spoon.  What's the deal with that?  Formula can't be THAT good! 

And life is actually getting easier in some ways.  She's better at playing with toys and entertaining herself, which gives me tons of time to lounge around and sleep all day...okay,not really.  It does, however, give me more time with Abby and I'm able to stay on top of the house cleaning a bit better.

I am finding it harder to take her out and be away from home during her nap time.  She no longer will easily fall asleep in my arms or in the car seat.  It's "crib or bust" all the way!  I guess it means it's time to start planning my day around her nap schedule.

Some of her recent doin's:

• Rolling over both ways
• Loves the Jenny Jump Up
• and actually, that's about it.  She's only 6 months, can't expect too much I guess

The last bit of info/drama, her measurements from her 6 month well check:

• Height: 27 inches-90%
• Weight: 17 lbs 14 oz-75%
• Head: 18 inches-OFF THE CHART!

The reason her stats are also drama, is cause the Doc is a little concerned with the size of her head.  I guess measuring off the charts is a bit of red flag.  I asked the Doc what was the cause for concern? (a strong possibility of a baby genius? just kidding)  He said is could be a sign that the fluid isn't draining around the brain.  So we are scheduled to go back in couple of weeks to get her head measured.

Utah Summer Games

We went down to Ceder City this last weekend for the Utah Summer Games.  Cam was competing in the Power Lifting Competition.  We headed down Friday morning and swung down to St George to visit my Grandma.  I feel so terrible, because she has never met either of the girls.  She lives relatively close, and we never get down there.  So it was SO nice to spend the afternoon there.  My Grandma has never had very many toys for kids, even when I was a kid and we would go to visit, there was a very small selection of toys.  But what she does have, is tons of buttons.  It's amazing how much fun a jar of buttons can be for kids.  So we busted those out for the girls to play with.

Saturday was the big day.  Cam's competition started early in the morning.  There were three different lifts, the squat, the bench press, and the dead lift.

and the dead lift.  I'm not sure how much he lifted on each individual one, but I know he lifted 1000 lbs total.  Wow!

Abby watched a movie on my IPod during a lot of the time.  All I have to say is "Thank heavens for technology!"

Later that afternoon, we went to the carnival that was going on.  Abby loved it!

This was such a fun trip!  I'm so glad we were able to go!

Oh, and here is a pic of Lexi holding her own bottle.  It doesn't happen very often, but I keep encouraging her to, because, how awesome would that be if she could hold it!  It'd sure help me out sometimes.

Pirate Island

Pirate Island has quickly become one of Abby's favorite places to go.  She talks about it at least once a day.  Yesterday we went and invited Cam's parents and Are and Piper to come along.  It is such a cute place for little kids to play, and the food is pretty good too. 

We were sitting by this merry-go-round ride, and the girls probably rode it 5 or 6 times.

Pretty Ears

The girls got their ears pierced!  I've wanted to get Abby's pierced since she was a baby, but have been to chicken, and now, I wanted to get Lexi's done.  I finally got the guts to do it.  I took both girls to the mall, and thankfully Are came to help.  Poor Abby wasn't expecting it to be painful, and I felt so bad, because she was genuinely shocked when she felt the pain.  Lexi, of course, had no idea what was going on, but both girls were great troopers and quickly turned their frowns upside down (with the help of a little ice cream for Abby).

Pony Express Days = FUN

This last week or so has been so much fun.  Eagle Mountain had there Pony Express Days going on and we tried to catch as many of the events as we could.  Last weekend I took the girls to the rodeo with my friend and her family.  It was a blast!  I've never been to a rodeo before, but I really enjoyed.  Abby liked it too, she kept saying she wanted to ride the horses.  I'm not sure she would have enjoyed the buckin' broncos that much but maybe we'll have to start training her to do mutton bustin' next year :) Yeah, right. 

(Lexi is there too, sleeping under the blanket.  I can't believe she missed all the fun!  Oh, well, next year :)  Thanks Jolynne for helping me with the girls!)

Today, we went to the parade in the morning.  That was so great.  Nice weather, and way too much candy!  Abby loved getting the candy and other goodies that people would throw to the crowd. 

 

Then in the afternoon, we went to the carnival.  And that was SO much fun too.  It was like excitement overload for Abby.  She wanted to ride on every ride, and had zero patience when we wanted to eat some food before we started riding the rides.  First she rode on the big slide with Cam.

Then I took her on the pirate ships.

 Then it was on to the boats.  We let her, actually we made her, do the rest of the rides by herself.

 And finally, she rode the cars.  The whole day was a blast.  It's time like these where I really LOVE living in Eagle Mountain.

P.S.  Remember a couple of weeks ago, I posted about skin cancer and sunscreen.  Yeah, Abby totally got burnt.  I put sunscreen on her like four times.  SPF 50 my butt. 

My Two Girls

Here's some pictures of the girls.

Lexi LOVES this toy.  Thank goodness.  It will keep her entertained for quite some time.

She has just learned how to grab her feet.  She also has learned to kind of arch her back and use her feet to push her back a few inches.  Everytime I lay her down, a few minutes later, I find her about a foot from her original position.  It's perfect timing too, because her bald spot on the back of her head was starting to get some hair growing back, but with this maneuver she will quickly rub it bald again.

I have tried and tried and tried to get Lexi to eat rice cereal, but she just won't have it.  I think that tongue reflex is still way too strong.  This is about how it goes, most of it ends up pushed back out of her mouth, and the little that she doesn't push out, just sits in her mouth.  She never swallows it.  Hopefully soon she'll start to get the concept!

Abby just LOVES Lexi.  Sometimes I'm afraid she might just love her to death :(  She can be a little rough and poor Lexi isn't quite capable of fighting back.  Soon, though, Lexi will be torturing Abby and will finally get her revenge.  But it is cute how much Abby enjoys Lexi!

 Abby will hold (more like squeeze) Lexi's hand every chance she can get.  Poor little Lexi's gonna have crippled fingers if Abby doesn't learn to be a little more delicate.

It is so nice, this summer, Abby has discover the joy of playing out back.  And I've discovered how great it is to send her out there :)
